Tips on 1v1 Dribbling for Ballers Only

Ballers community! Hope you guys have a good week! Now, I would like to share my tips on how to increase your 1v1 dribbling skills to make you more dangerous on that playing field. I’m not going to talk about the mental aspect of these skills, because I’m sure you ballers already have that mentality in mind, instead I’m going to share the technical tips which are equally important to the mental side.

You see these players such as Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Hazard, Neymar, one of their main strength is their 1v1 dribbling, using them as an example I will explain what that makes them so good in taking on players.

1. Go Direct

First, you want to go direct at the defender. You don’t want to explicitly dribble to one side, by doing that you just make the defender’s job easy. Instead, you want to make them guess where are you going to go by going direct at them then in the right time explode to another side.

2. Use your speed

Secondly, you have to go with speed by nudging the ball with the outside part of your foot (above the small toe) and react to the defender’s body movement. Nudging the ball makes you have more control on the ball and do whatever you want with it, maybe you want to throw those skill moves such as elasticos or stepovers.

3. Low Centre of Gravity

Next, you want to make your body posture low by bending your knee slightly which makes it easier for you to change direction and change speed which is essential especially for slower players who is up against faster defenders, by changing your direction – right and left as well as speed – stop and move, it will make the defender guessing and usually commit and as soon as they commit, they are exposed and you can exploit that.

4. Be Aware

Lastly, this is crucial, you have to look both in between the ball and the defender, you don’t want to just look at the ball and not knowing what is going around you and make a bad decision and then lose the ball. By doing this, you just help yourself to tell where is the defender’s weaker side.

Defenders’ weaker side is the position where they have to turn their hips and make it slower for them to get the ball, so for example, you are a left-winger, you are driving forward with speed to the right side of opposition side, the defender is jockeying on you and try to guide you to the sideline, instead of following him, you want to suddenly go inside and make them turn their hips, and of course it’s too late for them because you already place your shot in and went into the bottom corner! The crowd goes wild!

Alright, that is all I have for you ballers right now. Catch you soon. Keep ballin’!
