MatchFit Conditioning In-Season Program Review

Hey guys back with another blog! Hope you are all safe and excited to prepare for your next match whenever it may be. This time I am going to review a football program from MatchFit Conditioning. As their brand name stand, MatchFit Conditioning provides a football program and based their program on scientific-based research to get the best out of players’ potential. If I’m being honest, there are a bunch of football program out there and it has made me feel overwhelmed with a lot of choices. Sometimes too many options can hinder you to take action. But then, I came across this program. I researched them, however, I couldn’t find any third-party reviews on the internet. So I decided to spare some cash and buy it to try it for myself.

Why I bought the program

I bought the MatchFit Conditioning program in 2019. It has been a year using it before all the lockdown regulations happened. I found it hard to balance my individual training and team training during the season. You want to improve every day yet you also have to be fresh to perform for game days. I tried to design my own program by looking at exercises online but there are just too many to grasp and I’m not sure that it would be as effective. So I was thinking why don’t I just invest my money in this program so that I can focus on executing it. I would save my time and also improve my performance. Killing two birds with one stone they said.

My experience

After I bought the program, I got two PDFs file. One is the actual In-Season program and the other one is a document showing you to measure your fitness before commencing the program, also a template to track your workload. In the beginning, they explain all the term that exists within the program. It covers from strength & power to recovery and the importance of recovery and nutrition. They emphasize “training smart” by focusing on the QUALITY over the QUANTITY of training. I absolutely agree with this as I said you don’t want to push yourself too hard which leads to fatigues on game days, especially during the season. That’s why I decided to review the program for you guys!

The In-Season program also provided guidelines on how to use the program during the season considering my own schedule. Not to mention, how to progress the training load once you’re comfortable with the current state. So, the program can suit my ongoing schedule which is not the other way around.

Diving inside the program

The bulk of the program is the exercises themselves, it is divided into upper body, lower body, core, speed, stamina, injury prevention, and lastly pre-match routine which is 10 weeks long. Essentially, I’ve got the complete package of all the physical aspect of the game. Bear in mind that, the exercises are predominantly gym-based especially in the upper and lower body section. So, if you guys have or can access the gym, it will surely be a positive addition. With that being said, the upper body and lower body is split up into explosive based, speed-based, endurance, hypertrophy and max strength which interchange every 2 weeks of performing it.

They have their separate core workout section and it is recommended for me to be performed immediately after team training to maximize training output. The speed and stamina session is an elite level that implements progression overload to advance the progression of the training. Likewise, the injury prevention and pre-match routine are designed effectively to ensure our physical performance on the pitch.

Honestly, everything they have provided in the program was top-notch from the layout of the program through to the details and scheduling the workout has been amazing. They showed videos on how to do exercises properly with attention to detail in each exercise. They also recommend how many sets and reps you should do to maximise your output but not sacrificing your quality. The beauty of the program is that I always get an update every year if there is a change of design or content of the program without paying any extra. Can you imagine that you only pay once and you get an update all the rest of your life?!

Verdict

In my transparent and honest opinion, I think this is worth the money to spend if you are serious to take your game to a higher level. Overall is an excellent program I should say, it covers all the physical aspects of the game. Not to mention, I can work on my technical aspect by just incorporating the ball. Why do I say that? It’s because I have experienced it myself, I’ve seen a great amount of improvement in myself through this program. Like you guys, I’m in the pursuit of becoming the best player I can be and I want to go to the next level.

I realize it is the smart work that will get me results not a blind without direction “hard work”. Because I used to be that person who prioritizes hard work and only get a minimal outcome. I’m not saying that you shouldn’t work hard. In fact, smart work is hard already so if you combine those two you’ll eventually get the results you want. So, do the smart work consistently, that’s the keyword, then you will get to wherever you wanna be regardless of how long it takes.

So, if you made it to this end, I appreciate that and thank you so much for sparing your time of the day to read my review! Also, if you are interested in investing in this sick program for yourself I will provide a link below. Obviously, they have other programs that I haven’t tried on their website, but let me know if you guys think I should review the others. Again, thank you, stay safe and keep ballin’!
