How Many Hours Should I Train? Should I Train More?

You guys probably wondering and thinking “am I doing too much?” or “am I not doing enough?”. Yet you want to keep your body feeling fresh on game day or the next training session. So, how many hours should you train?. Well you came to the right resource. We will be discussing about that particular topic here.

There is no exact number

The reality is there is no definitive answer to that question. Every player’s body capability and skillset are different. Every person’s daily schedule is different. A two-hour session a day might be too tiring for player A but seems to short for player B.

So, first, it is down to certain players’ fitness level and capability of their body to perceive the training session. The fitter you are, the longer you can train. Also, players skillset could determine how long should they train to improve that skill. For instance, if dribbling is one of the weakness, it is good to spend more time on that particular skill.

Lastly, for some of you football may not be the only thing that you do. You probably have work or school or another responsibility, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t prioritize your football. If you want to succeed in everything, you should make time for it, however, you also shouldn’t neglect those other responsibilities that you have.

Instead, you should be able to manage your time by making a schedule. So, as long as you follow your own schedule and allocate your time for football, plus you do it consistently, trust me you will see progress. It could be only just 45 minutes, but it is absolutely better than nothing.

Listen to your body

Having said that the fitter you are the longer you can train, you still have to listen to your body. This is the most important thing. You don’t want to over train yourself because it could affect you mentally and physically. In this game, mental health is equally important as your physical health. With a healthy mindset, you are more likely to be motivated and stick to your game plan.

Remember, you are in this grind for a long haul, not an instant transformation. It is better to take a day off and feel fresh both mentally and physically for the next training session rather than forcing yourself for today’s session, but you feel unmotivated and unpassionate on it.

But, you have to make sure this thing doesn’t become a habit, don’t let this thing become things that you are going to expect from yourself. You will notice the difference whether are you need that day-off or actually just being lazy.

Especially, during the in-season period I know it’s quite difficult to do some extra workout because you have team training sessions and matches for which you have to be fresh. I’ll link you to an in-season program that actually and honestly helps me to balance my workout with team training session and matches so they don’t clash with each other, instead it helps me to make progress.

Anyway, I hope this article makes you understand the concept of training. Keep doing what you doing, don’t let anybody determine who you are as a player. Stay safe and healthy, ballers! Let me know any thoughts you have in the comment section down below.
